Both of these pictures I've posted have been on my blog before, but this time I reprinted them in my historical processes class. I used a technique called gum printing. Using gum arabic and acrylic paints, I paint on each layer of shadows, highlights, and midtones and expose each layer to light, one at a time. It's a long process (these took me about a week to make), but in the end, they turn out beautifully. On the first picture, I used hues of yellow and brown. On the second picture, I first made a cyantype print (which gives it the blue tint) and then layered over it with browns and blacks. If you want to see more gum printing or learn more about it, check out the work of Christine Anderson. Her work is beautiful. Just click on her name, and it'll take you to the website. Enjoy!
you do great work!
