Susannah + Martijn

Oh I'm so excited to share these images!

Quick story:  I left Arizona after Clarice and Spencer's Wedding and drove up through Utah to Idaho with my bro.  While in Utah we stayed for one day to do an engagement shoot in Park City  and to chill in Salt Lake City for a few hours at the awesome new shopping center downtown.

(Can anyone say H&M?! Although, I'm convinced it's completely different stateside than in Europe, but that's a different topic and I could spend the rest of this blog post writing about how much I miss GERMANY's H&M.  Anyone else notice the difference? Moving on.....)

While grabbing some delicious Chic-fil-A, my brother spotted a familiar face in the crowd:  Susannah!  We lived in the same city in Germany when we were kids and every now and then bumped into each other at college, but we hadn't seen her in at least two years.  My brother caught her attention and we had a lovely little reunion (hugs, laughs, and a few little squeals of excitement, mainly from me).  We quickly noticed she had a young man on her arm and a sparkly ring on her left finger.  She introduced us to Martijn, her fiancé!  We went over the fun details of how they met in Germany and exchanged letters (like the real kind, handwritten and everything) for nine months after he moved back  home to Holland.  She just returned from Germany to the states and they decided to rendezvous in Salt Lake City for a few weeks.  When we bumped into them, they had been engaged for only a week.  As we talked, it came up that I was in Utah to do an engagement shoot and Martijn and Susannah asked if I would be available to take their portraits.  I was thrilled!  I was headed up to Idaho for the week, so we arranged to do their portraits the following week right before I flew out of SLC back to New York.

Coincidence or not, it was absolutely wonderful catching up with this beautiful girl and spending the evening with her and her fiancé walking around SLC taking pictures.  We went to some fun locations such as Temple Square, Citi Creek, and even on the streetcar for a little European influence.  Martijn is now back in Holland until their wedding in December at her home in Oregon.  She'll then move to Holland where I'm sure they'll live happily every after.  Can I just say I'm a tad jealous that she gets to live in Holland?  Oh I miss Europe!  Susannah said right before I left, "I'm most excited about moving back to Europe for the clothes!"  Girl, I couldn't agree more!  So, without anymore rambling from me, congratulations to the future Mr. and Mrs. Boom! I wish the very best for you both.  Your happiness and love is evident in these images.  Please enjoy!
